SAN ANGELO–National Night Out 2016's turnout at eight central locations showed strong support from parents who brought their children to celebrate and promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention, and neighborhood kinship.

One law enforcement official, Johanna Nuñez, San Angelo City Marshall, was asked what it meant to her for the community to turn out in support of them.
"It's a big deal when you have the community supporting you," Johanna said. Marshall Nuñez concluded by saying it makes her want to do her job better.

At the Northside Boys & Girls Club, one nonprofit agency was represented by ADACCV, Prevention Specialist, Ali Vallanueva; three SAPD Fire Department employees there, were: Greg Halfmann-driver, Steven Gassiot-hoseman and Lt. Max Childress.
SAPD Police Officers included: Jason Hernandez and 27-year veteran, Cathy DeLaughter. Tom Green County Sheriff's Office was represented by Deputy A.J. Rios.

Another location, Solid Rock Church, located at 1305 Koberlin St. held their NNO event from 6 p.m.- 8.m. Pastor, Jehu Hernandez, his wife, Lillian, church staff and volunteers, hosted 100 people from the community in honoring first responders.
One of the groups which performed for SRC was Mary Lou Robbins' Ballet Azteca, comprised of 13 members.

Pastor Hernandez spoke with Conexión on why his congregation was so interested in participating in this community-wide event.
"This is a chance to serve our community, so we poured a lot of time and effort into this with money and free food," he said.
