Conexion San Angelo/Staff report

SAN ANGELO–Police Service Dog Duke alerted San Angelo Police Officers to the presence of narcotics during a traffic stop at Howard and Houston Streets around 9:00 p.m. last night.

Duke was requested to the scene to conduct an open-air “sniff” around a silver-colored 2002 Ford truck that had been stopped on a traffic violation. Duke alerted to a backpack that was resting against the inside of the truck’s bed as well as the driver’s door.

When Police searched the backpack and vehicle, they located drug paraphernalia, a non-functioning revolver, and several small bags that contained suspected narcotics.  The contents of the bags field-tested positive for methamphetamine.  Police also seized power tools believed to be stolen property.

The driver, identified as 46-year-old Ronald Joseph Allison, was arrested for 1st Degree Felony Manufacture Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1.  31-year-old Stephen Pace Friend, a passenger, was arrested for ten (10) outstanding City Warrants.  Both men were transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.
