SAN ANGELO – National Police Week gets underway across the nation, next week, May 15-20.

The observance originally began in 1962 when Congress acknowledged special recognition to those in law enforcement who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Locally, the San Angelo Police Department will have a 10 a.m. flag ceremony on Monday, May 15 at their headquarters, 401 E. Beauregard.

Then on Wednesday, May 17 there is a Running with the Blue, 5K-1 mile Run/Walk from 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

NPW activities conclude with an 11 a.m. Ecumenical Service on Friday, May 19 which will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 3 S. Randolph. A luncheon will follow after the service.
