Tarpley representatives, Nathan Garcia & Wes Manley.

And Tarpley Music chipped in $2,500 to fund the Band’s trip to Washington, D.C. where they are scheduled to perform on Memorial Day weekend.

“The Central Band has been selected to represent the State of Texas in the National Memorial Day Parade,” said Ashbrook.

Director Ashbrook was asked how excited were the band students to participate in the NMDP?

“They are very excited, as a matter of fact, some of the teachers have complained a little bit that all they are talking about is their Washington trip instead of focusing on their tests.”

Ashbrook concluded, saying that he wanted his band students to be proud of their performance as they are going to see some incredible bands.

Central High Band is among 32 other bands participating in Monday, May 29th’s 2 p.m. parade which will be broadcast live on television.

The checks that were presented took place in the John Philip Sousa Band Hall.
