SAN ANGELO – Four entities: the Concho Valley Republican Women, San Angelo Tea Party, Pachyderm Club and The Tom Green County Republican Party collaborated together to bring Wall Builder’s founder, David Barton to San Angelo Thursday evening, September 14 at the McNease Convention Center.

Barton was asked what was the message he wanted to get out to San Angelo’s community.

“The main message is why is America different, because the average length of the constitution of the world is 17 years; we are well over 200, that’s a world record, so how come?” said Barton.

“You go back to our original documents and we started with 126 words that set forth five principles.” “As long as we follow those five principles we stay great, when we get away from them we have trouble,” said Barton.

Conexión asked Barton exactly what were those five principles set forth in the Declaration of Independence.

“The first principle is that it starts with there is absolute truth and it’s known by the laws of nature and nature’s God,” said Barton. “Nature has set some laws and they don’t change.”

The second principle is that Creator, God has given every individual a sense of rights.

The third principle is that government exists to protect God given rights, first and foremost.

The fourth principle is that the government gets its powers from man.

And the fifth principle is that below the level of absolute truth and inalienable rights, we govern by the consent of the governed; we vote on things we have 51 percent majority.

“But you don’t use a majority to vote on inalienable rights, because you don’t vote on inalienable rights, God gives those,” concluded Barton.

Mr. Barton is author of the book, The Jefferson Lies: Exposing the Myths You've Always Believed About Thomas Jefferson,

He also heads WallBuilders, a national pro-family organization that presents America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on our moral, religious, and constitutional heritage.
