DEL RIO – Alida Helgerman, Finance Director of the Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, is this year’s person in charge of spearheading the Masquerade Gala which will be held on Saturday, October 28 from 7 p.m.- 1 a.m. at the Del Rio Civic Center in the Pecan Ball Room.

While this is the 11th year for the Gala, it is only the second year for the Masquerade theme, stated Helgerman.

“The Masquerade Gala event is about creating a character that is a reflection of your personality while having fun dressing up,” said Helgerman. Helgerman stated that a total of 100 masks will be handed out to go along with the guests’ costumes; awards will be given out for first, second and third place. This is DRHCC’s major fundraiser of the year; a silent auction will also be held for donated items.

The Masquerade Ball gala was intended to be done in a more fun-oriented way than previously when it was formal, stated Alida.

“People want to go out and have fun and attend an event that is different.” “Along with a sit-down dinner will be a live band which plays a wide genre of music, Hispanic to country, hip hop and line dance.” “We are very excited about this year’s Masquerade Ball,” concluded, Helgerman.
