SAN ANGELO – At Tuesday’s San Angelo City Council meeting, after Shannon Scott, Economic Development Specialist made a presentation to consider ratifying COSADC's approval of a resolution for a project and the expenditure of a promotional campaign to promote the 2018 San Angelo Business Plan Competition, six council members under Mayor Pro-Temp, Lane, Carter, approved the resolution, 6-0. 

Carter, filled in for Mayor, Brenda Gunter, who was in Louisiana for the I-14 Initiative meeting.

“What we brought before the City Council on Tuesday was a ratification of a resolution from COSADC Board for up to $5,000 for the promotional campaign that involves the 2018 Business Plan Competition,” said Scott. 

The Business Plan Competition 2018 is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to develop viable business plans that will create new ventures or expand existing businesses in San Angelo. The competition is a three-phase business plan competition with cash prizes and in-kind prizes donated by local businesses. A Judging Panel will be assembled from a pool of successful entrepreneurs, business leaders, financial professionals, and other economic development supporters in San Angelo.”

The competition coordinators are: The Business Factory, ASU Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and ASU College of Business(COB). The SBDC serves as the lead coordinator.

The official kick-off for the 2018 competition will be announced November 15 at the monthly COSADC board meeting, stated Scott.
