SAN ANGELO – The San Angelo Performing Arts Coalition is pleased to announce Be Theatre has joined the coalition as a resident company in the Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Be Theatre will occupy office space in Center and will control the Black Box Performance Space.

The agreement is for two years and involves cash payments for use of space, joint marketing efforts, and use of the coalition’s ticketing services.

“We had outgrown our current location, and the Stephens Performing Arts Center and the San Angelo Performing Arts Coalition are a perfect fit for us,” said Elena Kent, founding artistic director of Be Theatre.

“Be Theatre’s mission is to provide an enriching environment of entertainment and education that develops the artist and patrons in mind and spirit. Becoming the resident theatre company for the San Angelo Performing Arts Coalition significantly advances that goal,” Kent said.

“We are very pleased to have Be Theatre as resident company,” said Andrew Graves, president of SAPAC. “We always envisioned having a resident theatre company, especially one that focused on education. We have space designed for that, especially youth education, so this is a really nice fit. It also advances SAPAC’s mission to be a home for our local performing arts groups—thus benefitting our community as a whole. SAPAC looks forward to a long, mutually beneficial relationship with Be Theatre.”

Be Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit performance company. In addition to performances, Be Theatre focuses on community involvement through programs such as Shakespeare on the Concho, The Youth Performance Workshop, and The Literature Alive Project.

Ballet San Angelo is the other resident company in the Stephens Performing Arts Center.
