SAN ANGELO – After Sam Nixon learned all about management and business working for his dad, Scott at Jimmy John’s in Nebraska, he decided he wanted to launch out and start his own Jimmy John’s. Yesterday afternoon, January 29, Sam, wife, Merissa, brother, Charlie and their dad, Scott who is majority owner, officially had their All-Star lineup of employees alongside of them for their grand opening, albeit it took five years to get here to open a franchise in San Angelo.

Sam’s brother, Charlie, general manager of Jimmy John’s, said a former employee who ended up on the Angelo State University baseball team as a pitcher, “pitched” pun intended, the idea to Sam about checking out San Angelo as future location for Jimmy John’s. As for why it took the franchise five years to get here.

“We had to find management to come down here and live.” “Also, we had a few good locations slip through our fingers,” said Charlie.

The Nixon’s and their employees were welcomed into the Chamber family by the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce and Concho Cadre at Monday’s ribbon cutting ceremony.

Jimmy John’s 1,850 square footage, houses 27 employees and is located at 5770 Sherwood Way. The “fresh, fast and flawless” sandwich shop chain’s hours of operation are Monday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Jimmy John’s business number is 325-703-6242.

While it may have taken Jimmy John’s five years to get here, their delivery “fast ball” service goal is to get the food to their customer in 15 minutes or less!

“I want to become a part of the community whether through sponsorships, or working with local organizations,” concluded Nixon.
