SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – Earlier this month, Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, stopped off in San Angelo to attend the Tom Green County Republican Party Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner, held at the Riverview Restaurant.

At the 5 p.m. reception, TGC Republican Party Chairman, Jeff Betty, prior to introducing Gov. Abbott, welcomed community leaders; among them was U.S. Rep. Drew Darby.

Also, in attendance was Conexión Hispana, CEO, Gregorio Gutiérrez. Gov. Abbott stated to Gutiérrez that it was important for San Angelo to have a bilingual newspaper.

Gov.Abott addressed the importance of the economy that San Angelo contributes to. The Texas economy is extremely strong at this time with an average of $1.6 trillion dollars. Texas’ economy is bigger than Canada's, than Australia's and bigger than Russia's.

Later, at the opening night of the 86th San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo, Rodeo announcer, Boyd Polhamus, announced to the attendees that history was made as Abbott was the first governor to ever attend the event.
