SAN ANGELO –  When family members and friends get together for a good “ole fashion”, barbeque, it is usually held at someone’s home in their backyard.

On Friday, March 16, Courtney and Jayton Hampton, invited their family, friends and the public to a Grand Opening, to a laidback “backyard barbeque cuisine, family fun atmosphere which took place Friday afternoon/ evening at their on wheels, food truck business, Rustic Field to Table.

At 7:30 live entertainment was provided by local musician, Charles Reyes, who plays cover songs.

Among those in attendance was the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce and Concho Cadre members which welcomed the Hampton’s into their family at a 4:30 p.m. ribbon cutting ceremony held at 229 N. Chadbourne.

Courtney, husband of the two-member food truck business, was asked about the menu and what was different about their barbeque business compared to others. “The Mesquite and pecan wood gives it added flavor, and though you can get barbeque around different places, we wanted to do a different spin—a little finesse a little more presentation, more chef-inspired,” he said,

Hampton favors balance of flavors to go together such as Jalapeño poppers, miniature pork sliders sandwiches, with the red cabbage apple slaw on top and brisket that has homemade pickling with barbeque sauce.  Rustic Field to Table’s business model is “Everything fresh”.

While the menu is somewhat limited--consists of staples such as charro beans, macaroni, etc it is does change as the season changes because that’s the field to table part. “We’re trying to create, local fresh seasonal ingredients as much as possible as we try to stay away from canned which is why our menu rotates seasonally as on the weekends we can do more than during the week”, said Jayton Hampton, wife.

On item on Rustic’s brunch consists of a burrito loaded with brisket, charro beans, rice, cheese sauce covered with two sunny side farm fresh eggs, roasted tomatillo sauce and queso fresco

“We’ve always had this dream of wouldn’t it be awesome if we had our own place and doing the food we want to do?” concluded Courtney.
