SAN ANGELO – This April, Mr. Nolan Ryan, the pitching great, will join us in San Angelo as the keynote speaker for Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health Presents: Nolan Ryan. This event will be inspiring for all who attend and will hear his personal and professional stories.

Ryan is a former Major League Baseball pitcher and a previous chief executive officer of the Texas Rangers. He is currently an executive adviser to the owner of the Houston Astros. Ryan was 19-years-old when he broke into the big leagues with the New York Mets. His career spanned four decades retiring with 324 wins and 5,714 strikeouts. Before hanging up his spikes at age 46, Ryan topped the 300-win mark and hurled a record seventh no-hitter as a member of the Texas Rangers.

Proceeds from this event will be used to sustain our community outreach programs and support women’s health and gender medicine research, scholarships, and seed grants at Angelo State University. With funds raised last year, we were able serve over 5,000 women and girls through outreach events. Additionally, more than 525 mammograms were provided and a total of 44 women in the Concho Valley have been diagnosed with breast cancer because of the breast cancer diagnostic program of the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health.
