SAN ANGELO - Freedom Fellowship Church is working in collaboration with businesses and members of the San Angelo community to help a local woman restore her newly purchased home after the plumbing line from underneath the house collapsed.

When Rodney Brown, owner of Brown Ryan Construction, received a call from David Wright, owner of Wright Plumbing, he knew Drew Fulfer of Freedom Fellowship Church and founder of Freedom Homes, was the person to get involved in this project.

Since, Brown and Fulfer have been able to get a team of volunteers as well as supplies such as a dumpster, donated by Republic Services. United Rentals also stepped in and said they would take care of any equipment needed.

“It’s been a really good community effort,” said Brown. “I guess she called for an Angel and sent David Wright to her and the ball rolled from there. We just thought, we’ve got to help this lady.”

Insurance is involved, but not enough to cover expenses and that is why the community has come in to assist.

Freedom Homes’ mission is to get, mainly low-income families, back to normal day living by assisting in home repairs that otherwise would lead to unsuitable living conditions.

“What really makes it worthwhile is seeing people so excited and thankful, and to see the smiles on their face,” said Drew Fulfer, Freedom Homes.

The current stage of the project is jack hammering the concrete out from underneath the house. Next, the team will re-tunnel the plumbing system and then install new pipes.
