SAN ANGELO – Prior to the San Angelo Fire Department’s promotion of new blood as in four fighters’ promotions, four retirees with over 100 years of service were honored at this afternoon’s public reception which was held at the SAFD’s Central Fire Station location, 36 W. 1st St,

Fire Chief, Brian Dunn, first acknowledged retiree Lt. Hal Hoffman who finished his career with 28 years of service, followed by Karla Steppe, an investigator with 27½ years-experience and Greg Halfmann (24 years). Not present was driver, Mel Reyes (22 years). 

Chief Dunn then proceed to administer the official oath of office to the four firefighters who were promoted: Lt. Jason Jacoby, drivers: Josh Wascom, Joey Huffman and Nathan Havlak.

“We will miss colleagues who have been with the San Angelo Fire Department for more than two decades,” Fire Chief Brian Dunn said. “It’s also gratifying to celebrate firefighters who have worked tremendously hard to move into positions of greater responsibility and leadership within the department.”
