SWEETWATER —At the Sweetwater Mustangs’ homecoming game against the Lake View Chiefs, Friday night, September 15, it turns out Sweetwater was king-of-the-hill as they crowned Lake View with 52-21 blowout win.

It was a long night for the Chiefs defense as they didn’t have an answer for the deadly combination of quarterback, Chris Thompson to wideout, Kobe Clark. Both put on quite an aerial show as Thompson connected with Clark five times. Of those, four went for 20 plus yards, while Clark’s fifth touchdown, deep-sixed LVHS.

It didn’t matter how the Mustangs did it to the Chiefs whether on offense or defense, Lake View was just mercifully beaten to the punch. The good news for LVHS was they were only behind at the half, 27-6.

The bad news was that a second half was still to come. And that’s when the deluge of scoring broke the Chiefs’ back as Sweetwater just simply scored at will.

It didn’t make it any better as Lake View’s offensive line was taking a pounding from the Mustangs’ stout defensive line; to top that, it was not Chiefs’ quarterback, Henry Nickias night as he struggled with incomplete passes.

In the third quarter, Sweeter led 52-6; Lake View eventually manage to score two touchdowns in fourth quarter with receptions from Isaiah Moreno and Kendall Blue.

The Chiefs’ (0-3) next game is homecoming as Lake View versus Midland Greenwood (2-1) from San Angelo Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
