ODESSA, Texas – The Angelo State football team secured the program's 35th winning season by setting the school record for points in a single game in a 74-24 win over the UTPB Falcons in Odessa on Saturday evening.

The ASU Rams finish the regular season 6-4 and 4-4 in the LSC and it marks the third time ASU has had a winning record and finished a regular season with three straight victories under Coach, Will Wagner. Angelo State racked up 560 yards of total offense, returned three interceptions for touchdowns and tied the school record for field goals in a single season.

Josh Stevens and Jake Faber led the way offensively for ASU. Stevens carried the ball 18 times for 159 and scored three touchdowns. The senior averaged 8.8 yards per carry with a long of 49. Faber threw for 296 yards on 18-for-32 passing and connected on three passing TDs. Eight different Rams caught a reception with Keke Chism and Wesley Lewis leading the way with four each.

Connor Flanigan etched his name in the ASU record book by tying the school record for field goals made in a single season. The sophomore made a 36 yarder in the second quarter and tied the school record set in 1983 with a 25-yard kick late in the fourth quarter.

The ASU defense also shined by returning three interceptions for a touchdown. Justin Jackson, Hunter Kyle and Donavyn Jackson each picked off UTPB and used blocks to score. Leddy French recorded a game high nine tackles while Markus Jones became the sixth player in ASU history to tally double-digit sacks with 10.5 on the season.

The game started with UTPB driving down to the ASU 31. The Falcons looked like they would take the lead but Jackson picked off Kameron Mathis and returned it 81 yards for the first score of the game. It is the junior's third career touchdown.

The Falcons answered on the next drive to tie the game on a nine play 75 yard drive.

The two teams traded drives until Faber went to work finding Lewis on a 37 yard completion and Lawson Ayo for a 28 yard pass to move the ball deep into UTPB territory. Faber used his legs to give ASU the lead on a two yard rushing touchdown to go up 13-7.

The Ram defense quickly forced a three and out and the Rams went back to work offensively. Faber and Chism found a connection on a 21 yard reception and a few plays later Faber once again found the red-shirt freshman for a 17 yard touchdown to put ASU up 19-7 in the first quarter.

UTPB moved the ball into ASU territory but an illegal block allowed ASU to slow the attack and force another punt.

Stevens found daylight on the next drive on a 38 yard run on an eight play 80 yard drive to make it 26-7.

The Ram defense got its second interception return on the ensuing drive. Hunter Kyle picked off Mathis and took it back 22 yards to extend the ASU lead to 33-7.

UTPB cut the lead to 33-14 at the 3:27 mark of the second quarter on a five play 50 yard drive.

The Rams responded with a 36 yard field goal from Flanigan. UTPB would drive inside the ASU five yard line before being held to a 22 yard field goal. Angelo State would take a 36-17 lead into halftime.

Angelo State came out in the second half and quickly scored on a four play drive. Faber found Tashani Bibbs on a 24 yard strike and completed the drive with a 20 yard toss to Lawson Ayo for a 43-17 advantage.

After trading drives, the Rams kept scoring this time on another four play drive. Jalyn Judkins caught a 44 yard pass from Faber to make the score 50-17.

The Ram defense was solid in the second half only allowing 189 yards of total offense. The third three and out in the third quarter gave the ball back to the ASU offense.

Stevens found a hole for a 28 yard gain and Faber hit Larry Johnson on a 25 yard pass to put the ball at the UTPB two yard line. Stevens scored his second touchdown of the game on a one yard game.

The third interception return came from Donavyn Jackson in the third quarter. The redshirt freshman picked off Caden Coots and scampered 38 yards for the score. It is Donavyn Jackson's first career touchdown and made the score 64-17.

UTPB scored its final points of the game on a 24 yard rush by Brandon Infiesto to cut ASU's lead to 64-27.

Stevens' final touchdown of the game added a school record for the Rams on a 49 yard rush to make it 71-24. It broke the previous school record set last season.

Flanigan tacked on the final points of the game on a 25 yard kick to make the final 74-24.
