SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State Rams football team will head to the postseason for the first time since 2014 with a trip to the Heart of Texas Bowl in Copperas Cove, Texas, to face Washburn of the MIAA on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m.

The Rams will make their first bowl appearance since the 1972 Ardmore Shrine Bowl and first postseason trip since the 2014 NCAA Division II Playoffs. The Ichabod's went 6-5 overall and it will be the first meeting between the two programs.The C.H.A.M.P.S Heart of Texas Bowl is in its 17th season of hosting Division II teams.

"It is an honor to be selected to play in the Heart of Texas Bowl and to face a quality opponent in Washburn from the MIAA Conference," Angelo State head football coach Will Wagner. "It is a great opportunity to extend our season and the extra game will be a benefit to our program with extra practices. It will be another chance for our players to showcase Ram football."

Angelo State finished the season at 6-4 overall and will carry a three game winning streak into the program's first trip to the Heart of Texas Bowl. It is the sixth bowl game in school history. The Rams went to four bowl games as San Angelo College in 1950, 1951, 1955 and 1960 and made their last bowl appearance as Angelo State in 1972. ASU is 2-3 all-time in bowl games.
