SAN ANGELO – Angelo State University announced that Markus Jones was named a D2Football All-American last week.

Jones is the first Ram to earn All-American honors by two different publications since Clayton Callicut in 2015. He was selected to the second team at defensive end to add to his list of accolades. He was the LSC and ASU leader in sacks with 10.5 and tackles for loss with 18.5 (1.81 per game). He recorded 63 total tackles which was fourth on the team. Jones also had a team-high eight quarterback hurries and three blocked kicks on the season.  

He was also named an American Football Coaches Association All-American and was the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Year, LSC Defensive Lineman of the Year and a D2CCA All-Region selection.
