SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State baseball team will hold its first practice of the 2018 season on Wednesday at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.

The Rams will return to the field after a 43-15 record in 2017. The team won the Lone Star Conference Championship for their performance and also ended the regular season first in the South Central Region for the first time in program history.

ASU will return several standout players from 2017 returning this season, including last season's LSC Player of the Year, Jacob Boston, and LSC Freshman of the Year Nick Novak. Also returning are Mitch Henshaw, who was named to the All-Conference First Team in 2017 and LSC Gold Glove Winners Elias Aguirre and Jonathan Soberanes. These returners will join a number of newcomers added to the team by head coach Kevin Brooks and his staff.

Collegiate Baseball Newspaper has already recognized Angelo State with a No. 30 ranking in its preseason poll.

The Rams will be on the road to open the season, competing in the Airhog D-II Classic in Grand Prairie. Fans will be able to see the team at home for the first time at 4 p.m. on February 9 as ASU takes on Southwestern Oklahoma State at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
