SAN ANGELO – The 77th annual running of the Kiwanis’ “Little Olympics” kicked off its first of a two-day sports event with 4th, 5th and sixth graders represented by Glenn, Lincoln and Lee Middle Schools respectively.

In the Boys' shot put division, the following winners were announced: first place medal went to Malakie Ramos, second place was Rey Palos and third place belonged to Christopher Martinez.   

Thursday afternoon’s events started at 5:15 p.m. with the boys’ long jump, shot put, plus both girls’ long jump and shot put.

The Lincoln Middle School Maidens, under first year coach, Gabby García, had six girls compete in the girls’ long jump.

Sixth grader, Mia Snell’s jump measured 11 feet and four inches. 

The preliminary events consisted of: girls and boys 100 meters, girls and boys 200 meters, girls and boys 300 meters. The finals in those events: 100/200/300 meters for both girls and boys got underway at 7:30 p.m.

The “Little Olympics” continues Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. with approximately 1500 students from the San Angelo Independent School District’s 30 elementary schools.
