Well, it’s tax time. I don’t know anyone who likes paying taxes. Some would say we should resist the government by refusing to pay our taxes.

What Does The Bible Say?

In Romans 13:5-7, it says… “Therefore, one must be subject, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For the same reason you also pay taxes for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay all of them their dues, taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.”

From this scripture, we learn:

1. We are to be subject to authority.

2. We are to pay our taxes.

3. God allows authorities to serve (ministers).

4. We are to pay them what we owe.

To some we owe taxes

To some we owe revenue

To some respect.

To some we owe honor.

Remember these instructions are about you, not them. When they were written, the Christians at Rome were under Caesar.
