The Midterm General Election for state and local races took place on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
SAN ANGELO – The Midterm General Election was held Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Election Day returns are considered unofficial until parties canvass the votes.
One State race of interest was the Governor’s position between the incumbent, Governor Gregg Abbott, and challenger, Beto O’Rourke. Governor Abbott was re-elected for a third term.
The Tom Green County Judge race was between Lane Carter and Gary Jenkins.
US Representative, District 11 incumbent, Congressman August Pfluger, who was unopposed, was re-elected.
And The Sanctuary City Ordinance, listed as Proposition A outcome, was also on the ballot.
Below are the results on some races and one ordinance.
Governor
· Greg Abbott REP 14,494 Early Voting represented 76.61%, 8,327 Votes on Election Day and 23,829 Total represented 75.02%.
· Beto O’Rourke DEM 4,189 Early Voting represented 22.14%, 2,573 Votes on Election Day,7,481 Total represented 23.55%.
US Representative District 11
· August Pfluger REP 15,633 Early Voting represented 100%, 9,376 Votes on Election Day, 26,157 Total represented 100%.

Candidates
· Lane Carter: REP 15,503 Early Voting, represented 97.25%; 9,316 Votes on Election Day, 25,962 Total votes, represented 96.76%.
· Gary Jenkins (write-in) 439 Early Voting represented 2.75%, 223 Votes on Election Day, 870 Total votes, represented 3.24%.

Ordinance to make the City of San Angelo a Sanctuary City for the unborn
· FOR 8,167 Early Voting represented 56.99%, 4,281 Votes on Election Day, and 13,180 Total votes representing 56.02%.
· AGAINST 6,163 Early Voting represented 43.01%, 3,496 Votes on Election Day, 10,349 Total represented 43.98%.
The 2022 election will be certified by the third week of November, per Tom Green County Elections Office.
