Background

In June 2022, All-Tex Irrigation & Supply, LLC embarked on a mission to contribute something valuable to the San Angelo community, benefiting all its citizens. As passionate advocates for Texas water, we sought to incorporate an element that aligns with our daily work. That's when inspiration struck – Splash Pads! Forming a dedicated committee to bring this vision to life, we presented our proposal to the city council in January 2023. Fortunately, they granted us permission to seek funding, construct the pads, and make a donation back to the city.

With the support of the San Angelo Area Foundation, we established our charitable cause and secured a reliable method for managing donated funds. Thanks to the incredible generosity of numerous donors, including All-Tex Irrigation's initial contribution of $100,000, we were able to proceed and acquire the necessary equipment in December 2023 and schedule the installation at Unidad Park by early summer 2024. Looking ahead, we are currently focused on raising the funds required to complete the 2nd Splash Pad at Kirby Park. We are excited about the progress we have made so far and remain committed to making a positive impact in our community.

Splash pads are a gift to our community, offered without any obligations. They satisfy the desires of many San Angelo residents, are freely accessible to the public, promote fairness in use, encourage physical activity, drive eco-friendly play initiatives, and contribute to economic stimulation within our community. One splash pad will be installed at Unidad Park (3245 Vista del Arroyo Drive) and the other will be installed at Kirby Park (1401 Edmund Boulevard) with City of San Angelo Development Corporation support. Per our agreement with the city, the City of San Angelo will be responsible for maintaining both pads once construction is complete. Splash pad systems have two options for operation: (1) freshwater systems or (2) recirculating systems. Given that we reside in a region susceptible to drought, implementing a recirculating system for our projects entails a higher initial expenditure. This involves the burial of a 2,000-gallon tank underground, serving as a reservoir for the system. The water contained in these tanks undergoes a comprehensive two-phase filtration and sanitization process. Since the water is reused, the actual water loss is minimal. The primary factors contributing are (1) wind, (2) sun and heat, and (3) high usage. Each system is activated by an actuator switch, operating on-demand instead of continuously. A master controller sets the system's operating times for efficient maintenance.
