The 2023 NCAA Division II National baseball champions, ASU Rams baseball team led this year’s ASU Homecoming Parade held on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
This year’s Angelo State University Homecoming Parade of 48 entries was headed by the Rams 2023 NCAA Division II National baseball champions, followed by nine prestigious award nominees: Distinguished Alumnus, Distinguished ROTC Alumnus, Honorary Alumnus, Outstanding Retired Faculty Member, Golden Ex of the Year, Outstanding Staff, Distinguished Faculty Achievement, and Distinguished Young Alumnus.

The American Baseball Coaches Association as the NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year. ASU finished the baseball season at 56-9.
Master of ceremonies, Manny Campos announced each parade entry as two judges: Lorena Gonzalez, and Dr. Heather Schoen based their evaluation on the following criteria: Most Spirited, Best use of Theme, Creativity, Design, and Effort.
Another group included the 2023 Homecoming king and queen nominees. The five men were:
- JaRon Pettis
- Shay Miller
- Scotty McDowell
- Cameron “McLovin” Allen
- Kam Wiese
The women included:
- Chloe Herrera
- Alexandra Solis
- Candice Welch
- Abbie Williams
- Michelle Underwood
Among the various ASU organizations were: The Student Body Association, Association of Mexican American Students (AMAS), Honors Student Association, Nurses Association, Block and Bridle Club, Law Enforcement Club, etc.
The 10 a.m. parade held on the campus of ASU started at the Campus Green parking lot. The route proceeded westbound on Dena, northbound on South Johnson, eastbound on Vandeventer and southbound on Van Buren St. The parade made it last two turns a right one on Van Buren St. and in front of the Massies Residence halls.
