Goodfellow Air Force Base’ Staff Sergeant, Katarina Rogers and the 17th Security Forces military police hosted the inaugural Open House summer Block Party from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
SAN ANGELO –When Goodfellow Air Force Base served as hosts for its inaugural Open House summer Block Party it went big with an invitation as “our way to give back to the community that has given so much to us,” said GFAB Staff Sergeant, Katarina Rogers.
Although Goodfellow’s BP was held in its own spacious backyard that being the base theatre parking lot located at bus stop No. 7, there were six more bus stops before arriving where all “the fun, and excitement was” stated SS Rogers an instructor with the 316th Squadron.
The following six bus stops started with bus stop 1being at Louis F. Garland Department of Defense Fire Academy. Bus stop 2 was DOD Fallen Firefighter Memorial, the 3rd bus stop was the 17th Training Wing, followed by bus stop 4 where the Fulcrum presentations were held outside BLDG. 525. At bus stop 5, VR simulations were held, and bus stop 6 was the Health and Human Performance Center.
Rogers informed Conexión that 49 vendors considered community partners from Semper Fresh Kettle Corn, to Cheese Steaks, TLCA which offered free coffee, also Toys For Tots, Salvation Army, etc. set-up tents.
GFAB’s own military personnel also contributed greatly with SWAT team & K9 demonstrations, Civil Air Patrol’s propelled rocket demonstration, etc. in making this joint partnership a success.
” I am really excited to continue this great partnership between Goodfellow and our community in the future” concluded Rogers.
