Mucha gente habla de la fe. Dicen: “Mantén la fe” y cosas así. Pero, ¿qué es la fe?
¿Qué dice la Biblia?
Hebreos 11:1 “Ahora bien, la fe es la certeza de lo que se espera, la convicción de lo que ahora se ve”.
De este versículo de la Escritura, aprendemos acerca de la definición de fe de Dios.
1. La fe es certeza. Eso significa que tenemos plena confianza en las promesas de Dios.
2. La fe no es solo estar seguro de la promesa, sino que realmente quiero que se cumpla. La palabra es esperanza. Puedes mirar al cielo y estar seguro de que el tornado golpeará tu casa, pero no esperas que lo haga.
3. Este tipo de certeza produce convicción en tu corazón. Estás tan seguro y tu creencia es tan fuerte que no necesitas verla para creerla.
4. Hay cosas que creemos que no hemos visto, pero nuestra convicción de esa creencia no es muy fuerte. Creo que hay una ciudad en Rusia llamada Moscú, pero tengo muy poca fe en esa creencia. No la he visto ni tengo intención de visitarla. Así que este conocimiento que creo no está a la altura de la fe. Puesto que toda la eternidad y las promesas de Dios dependen de que yo tenga fe, debo tomar mi fe en serio.
Escuché a un hombre describir su sistema de creencias a otro hombre. No era un pensamiento muy serio. Su amigo dijo: “Bueno, puede que sea así, ¡pero no apostaría mi vida por eso!”. Lo que usted cree es importante. Si no tiene una Biblia pero necesita una, háganoslo saber y le ayudaremos. Soy Paul Shero. ¡Lo estaré buscando el domingo!
What Does the Bible Say?
A lot of people talk about faith. They say, “Keep the Faith” and things like that. But what is faith? What does the Bible say?
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things now seen.”
From this verse of scripture, we learn about God’s definition of faith.
1. Faith is assurance. That means we have full confidence in the promises of God.
2. Faith is not only being sure about the promise but I actually want it to come about. The word is hope. You may look at the sky and be confident the tornado will hit your house but you don’t hope that it does.
3. This kind of assurance produces conviction in your heart. You are so sure and your belief is so strong that you don’t need to see it to believe it.
4. There are things we believe that we haven’t seen but our conviction of that belief is not very strong. I believe there is a city in Russia named Moscow but I have very little invested in that belief. I have not seen it nor do I intend to visit it. So this knowledge that I believe is not up to the level of faith. Since all of eternity and the promises of God depend on me having faith, I must take my faith seriously.
I heard a fellow describe his belief system to another man. It was not a very serious thought. He friend said, “Well that may be so but I wouldn’t bet my life on it!” What you believe is important.
